Caitlin and Mike’s Anthony Wayne House Wedding was classic and traditional!

The bride and groom have such a beautiful love story. And their journey to be married all started with a Christmas Day proposal! At the time, Caitlin, unfortunately, was sick in bed with a 102-degree fever. However, Mike insisted that they each open their stockings because it was mid-afternoon and neither of them had exchanged gifts yet. To her surprise, at the very bottom of her Christmas Stocking, Caitlin found an engagement ring. How beautiful is that?!

After an amazing 8-year relationship, Caitlin was overjoyed at the proposal, and of course, said yes! From there, they were excited to begin their wedding planning process. But mostly, they were thrilled to begin this new chapter in their life together as husband and wife.

I have to tell you, that Caitlin was such a beautiful bride! Her happiness and emotions radiated for the entire day. Her bridal gown was a very classic off-the-shoulder satin trumpet gown. But her wedding veil was a beautiful family heirloom. The veil she wore had previously belonged to her mother. Caitlin had the veil cleaned and restored in order to surprise her mom with it on her wedding day. Her mom was in complete shock! But, as you can imagine she was overcome with happy tears at the sight of her beautiful daughter wearing her wedding veil.

Another beautiful touch to Caitlin’s wedding day look was the handkerchief in her bouquet. The bride had a handkerchief made from a piece of fabric that was taken from her grandmother’s wedding dress. Thus allowing her to carry a piece of her grandmother’s memory with her on her wedding day.

Caitlin and Mike’s wedding ceremony was held at Saints Simon & Jude Catholic Church and was a Catholic mass with Father Gerlach presiding over their vows. During the ceremony, they also included a beautiful presentation of flowers to the blessed mother. This tradition is when a couple will bring a flower or flowers (and sometimes the bride’s bouquet!) to the statue of Mary after their ceremony, in which they offer prayers asking for Mary’s intercession. I think it is a very beautiful and symbolic gesture to witness in a Catholic wedding.

Once their holy union was sealed, they left the church as husband and wife. There, we found their sweet dog Ralph waiting for them! Ralph made a surprise appearance to shower his Mom and Dad with love on their special day! All in all, Ralph is a big part of their lives. They often spend their time with him going for walks or exploring. So I was beyond thrilled to capture this very special moment for the three of them. Ralph was such a good boy about having his picture taken and he looked beyond adorable in his little bow tie collar!

Caitlin’s family has a very specific wedding day tradition that uses one of their family heirlooms: a historical antique car, a Packard, that belonged to the bride’s grandfather. How amazing is that?!

On her wedding day, Caitlin made the trip to the church in the Packard, all shined up and decorated with a floral arrangement, made especially for the car. It was the perfect backdrop for some Bride & Groom portraits!

My beautiful couple chose the Anthony Wayne House for their wedding reception because they loved the indoor-outdoor feeling of the venue. And the amount of natural light available was not only amazing for their wedding photography, but also to create a very relaxed and fun atmosphere for their guests, who enjoyed a delicious plated dinner while taking in the views of the historical grounds.

The Anthony Wayne House is maintained and preserved by The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks. Altogether making it an ideal wedding venue for couples in the Philadelphia area who enjoy a piece of history on their wedding day, with a gorgeous natural landscape. Your wedding day at the Anthony Wayne House will be as amazing and unforgettable as Caitlin & Mike’s!
