An elegant black-tie Water Works Philadelphia wedding filled with florals, family love, and moments centered on connection. Amanda and Jim’s wedding was a remarkable evening, brimming with delight and focused on elegance and fun.
A Love Story Unlike Any Other
Connecting with my couples ahead of their wedding day allows me to effortlessly capture those cherished in-between moments when their event arrives. By understanding the nuances of their story, I’m able to shape portraits that reflect not just how their day looked, but the joy and connection that defined it.
Amanda and Jim’s love story is anything but average. It wasn’t a chance meeting at a university campus or a workplace romance. Instead, they met as teenagers, growing up in Delaware, experiencing what they describe as a whirlwind romance.
Over a decade later, Amanda and Jim ultimately lost touch with one another. It wasn’t until Amanda moved to Philadelphia for medical school that she ran into Jim. He was now working at the Philadelphia Public Defender’s office, which was directly across the street from her apartment. Upon finding out, they made plans to ‘accidentally’ run into each other. Reconnecting one night over drinks, they rekindled their romance, falling head over heels in love & awe with each other. Seven beautiful years later, at a pastoral vineyard in Charlottesville, Jim asked Amanda for her hand in marriage.
Water Works Cescaphe
Stretched along the shores of the Schuylkill River, you’ll find Water Works by Cescaphe. An iconic piece of architecture and a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s vibrant history. Water Works by Cescaphe is also a National Historical Landmark, turned contemporary wedding venue.
Coupled with its stone columned walkways, lavish setting, and idyllic views, a Water Works Philadelphia wedding is for discerning couples. The ones who wish to host a remarkable wedding day with intentional decor elements and family connections at the center of it all.
A Water Works wedding also features riverside views and the ability to enjoy a tented reception celebration along Boathouse Row. With an unmistakable penchant for style, Amanda and Jim began planning a Water Works Philadelphia wedding. Above all, they set out to spend the night in celebration of their story. But most importantly, the clarity of their vision included being surrounded by those they love the most.

Drawing on the details of their personalities, while immersing their guests in a memorable evening of festivities, design elements became interactive touchpoints for enjoyment. Attire for the evening was black tie chic, with attendees in silky, richly colored floor-length gowns and crisp black suits adorned by tidy bow ties. As Amanda and Jim prepared for their ceremony, guests were greeted by a whimsical drink cart. Signature cocktails were served while attendants began to take their seats. Laced with intention, at every turn, were abundant white florals and softly flickering candles, setting the atmosphere for a night filled with poignant moments and emotional connections.
Soaking in these moments from behind the lens was a beauty to behold. From the palpable excitement in Amanda’s getting-ready suite, to later witnessing her father pull down her wedding veil, and finally watching her and Jim beam at one another from down the aisle before they exchanged their vows. There was a kind of energy present that had to be experienced to be felt, and portraying it through each photo captured at their Water Works wedding was a wonder to behold.
Once they were pronounced husband and wife, Amanda and Jim made their way down the aisle together to a flurry of whimsical bubbles filling the air. The delightful shower of bubbles was a clear signal that it was time to honor the newlyweds with a high-energy wedding reception.
Before guests found their assigned seats, Amanda and Jim were treated to a room reveal of their reception setup. The look of pure wonder and awe on Amanda’s face says more than words ever could. Together, she and Jim envisioned a setting where they would hit the dance floor to the sound of a live band underneath hanging floral installations and disco balls, and their moment had finally arrived.
