Katie and JT’s wedding at Ellis Preserve was everything you could dream of for a classic Philadelphia wedding!
My bride and groom’s love story began when they met at La Salle University as sophomores. Both of them being ice cream lovers, they went on an “unofficial” date together to Rita’s and it wasn’t long before they were an official couple and JT had a proposal on his mind.
JT proposed to Katie at 88th Street Stone Harbor, right on the beach. This location holds a very special meaning for the couple who used to visit JT’s father there every weekend. JT managed to lure Katie down the water under the guise of taking a few photos of the water for his job as a marketing director. The surprise was that the camera was actually set up to record their engagement! The ring that JT used to propose to Katie was custom-made by a jeweler whom Katie used to nanny for! How special is that!?
After Katie said yes, JT surprised his new bride to be with their family in attendance to celebrate. They had not been able to see their family for months because Katie was a frontline worker during the pandemic, so it was an extra special moment for everyone! Katie was so overwhelmed and filled with joy that JT made each aspect of their proposal so full of sentiment.
Katie and JT decided to hold their wedding at The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve!!
They chose the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve for their wedding day because they felt that ‘aha’ moment when they viewed the venue. It has a great intimate vibe and Katie especially loved that they could design the room and the seating to their liking. She also fell in love with the flower wall and the beautiful patio. She felt like it was an escape to a fairytale tucked away inside the venue!!
When the wedding day came, the bride and her bridesmaids got ready in fun Pjs that Katie bought for everyone! Katie decided to take advantage of their gorgeous venue and the bridal party got dressed in the bridal suite at Ellis Preserve.
Next, it was time to say I do! Katie and JT became husband and wife at the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Philadelphia with Father Montero performing their sacrament of marriage service.

The overall theme for their reception at the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve was modern timeless with a black-tie twist! How classic is that for a Philadelphia wedding!? Their color palette was black and white with subtle gold accents. I have to say, the bridal party looked so chic dressed all in black! Katie and her bridesmaids carried bouquets done in shades of dusty green florals and there were touches of greenery in every corner of their day! The greenery really added the modern twist to their classic wedding! The newlyweds finished off the night dancing up a storm on the dance floor with their family and friends. Is there any other way to top off your dream wedding day?!
