When I returned from maternity leave a  few weeks ago I was recharged and ready to restructure my business. I began working on an Engagement Style Guide, a magazine filled with great tips on what to wear, what to expect from your session, how to choose location and time for creating great pictures and more. When the time came to look for a couple to model for this project, Hayley and Rob immediately came to my mind.

I met these two love birds last year when I photographed Hayley’s sister’s wedding. She was the maid of honor and it was a pleasure to spend that day with her and her family as we all celebrated Coleen and Matt’s wedding. I decided to reach out, and for my surprise, Hayley and Rob were as excited as I was to make this style shoot to happen. Even though we were having this session for my personal project, I really wanted Hayley and Rob to have the same experience all my clients have. Also, they are a real couple, fiances that are getting married this summer! How exciting!!!

As we spent the day together, I had the privilege to get to know them a little better. They met after Hayley moved back to Lancaster from Pittsburg. Her sister was the one who introduced them, and his mom acted like a cupid as well, telling him that he should date “this nice girl”. Isn’t it adorable? (Hayley told me that her future mother-in-law is just an older version of herself!!!) They both have a graphic design background, and that was the topic that brought them close together. Hayley also told me that Rob was full of sweet surprises during their courtship. And of course, when it came time to propose he didn’t disappoint!!!

They went on a trip with Hayley’s family to Lake Algonquin and Rob had a plan. Hayley went to shower one night thinking that Rob was going to break up with her because of the way he was acting. She comes out wearing pajamas and he tells her she needs to see this “thing” by the lake. She gets there and he had lights, flowers and a sign saying “Love you to the moon & back”. He goes down on his knees and says a quote from Hayley’s favorite movie, It’s a wonderful life. “What is that you want, Hayley (originally Mary)? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down”. OMG, way to go Rob! She said YES and he gave her a moon rock – rose gold ring!

Below are a few of my favorites from their engagement session last Saturday. We got rained on, the wind was blowing like crazy, but their love was shinning, making this spring engagement session at Founder’s Hall at MiltonHershey School super bright!
