Hello, hello!
Welcome to my first blog post on my brand new website! I hope you are enjoying it so far…
As every friendship begins, let’s start with introductions. I’ll go first…
My name is Juliana Tomlinson, I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to a loud, yet very loving family. In 2008 I was still a journalism student and my dream was to learn how to speak English fluently. It was then that I packed my bags and came to the US to learn the language by living the culture. I arrived in Chadds Ford, PA in July of that year (thank goodness it was summer, not sure what would’ve happened to me if my 1st impression of this great country was tons of snow and the freezing temperatures lol). I was welcomed by the greatest host family one could wish for! I lived with the Holders for 3 years, and we created such strong bonds that we are blessed to relate to each other as family!!!
Fast forward to 2010, the year we had that awful blizzard in PA! I am not a fan of the winter, I was made for the sun… After being snowed in for days I had decided I had enough – It was time to get back to the city were the winter temperatures are never below 65F. Litttle did I know that God had different plans for my life! About 2 months after I purchased my tickets to go back to to Rio de Janeiro, the warmth of summer returned and I decided to stay and finish my degree here in the US.
So, one night in April of that year I went as usual to the young adult group I belonged to for some prayer and fellowship. However, instead of only finding Jesus and friends, on that night I found love and a new BOYfriend! (haha) It was totally unexpected, but I had been praying to find “the one” for awhile. I guess God heard my prayers in English and answered by introducing me to an American guy! lol A cute one, I must say! Greg came to my life as a friend and we spent lots of time together, falling in love during my favorite season of the year!
He proposed in 2011, in the same month we met a year prior. Of course I said YES!!! We got married on October 8th, 2011 here in the US, and renewed our vows on December 23rd at the top of the “Corcovado”, the mountain where Christ the Redeemer is located in Rio.
Greg and I have been married for almost 7 years now (wow, time really flies!). We have been so blessed throughout our struggles and victories… In all these years together we traveled to a few paradise like places, I graduated, we got a dog (Arthur), we bought a house, I started a business, Greg has been promoted a few times and our dream of becoming parents became true. We’ve faced so many hardships too, the greatest one being infertility. That was over when our miracle baby, Theodore, was born on February 19th of 2018. I’ll tell you guys more about that in a different post because this one is already looking like a book… haha
Here are some old photos from those “good old days“…
